Anytime Fitness UK reaches membership milestone with record-breaking start to 2024

Published: 03 June 2024

Anytime Fitness

Anytime Fitness UK has reached the milestone of 200,000 members and a record 1 million club visits per month in the first quarter of 2024.

The brand’s expanding network of clubs and members contributed to an 8.3% increase in revenue in Q1 compared to the same period in 2023; this was also supported by a 4% increase in average member yield.

As the UK’s largest fitness franchise, Anytime Fitness has 185 clubs in operation and is on target to sell 25 new franchise licences in 2024.

The brand’s franchise development efforts have been strengthened by several new initiatives, including investment into enhancing its data-driven approach to the identification of new ‘hot’ locations for potential clubs.

The growth is also aligned with the roll-out of the brand’s new club design, which has seen a full refresh of the interior specification and layout. The new model, which is being implemented in all new openings and transitioned across the existing network, puts community and coaching at the heart of each club, with a large functional training space as one of the key features.

The UK remains the biggest European market for the global brand, with 50% of Europe’s total franchise sales in Q1 attributed to the UK. February’s opening of Anytime Fitness Brixton also broke the international pre-sales record, with the club opening with more members than any other previous Anytime Fitness facility outside of the US.

“2024 has been our strongest start to the year for some time, with key metrics from both the consumer and franchising sides of the business showing real growth,” said Andy Thompson, Chairman of Anytime Fitness UK.

“We’ve been working hard to get an even stronger understanding of our members and how we engage them, investing in our tech infrastructure and systems, as well as making sure we’ve got the right people in place to support the business moving forward – these are all critical factors that have contributed to a stronger performance across the network. Our sector isn’t without its challenges, but we’re receiving positive levels of interest in franchising and the projected growth makes for an exciting year ahead.”

Anytime Fitness UK is part of a global franchise network of over 5,000 clubs worldwide and across nearly 40 countries. The brand was named Global Franchise Grand Champion and Best Fitness Franchise at the 2024 Global Franchise Awards.
