Chapati Man, the London based Spicy Indian Wrap festival and event catering business, created by husband and wife team Chris and Andrea Rai in 2007 recently sold the Chapati Man Master Franchise rights for the State of New York. The official launch date for the first Manhattan unit is 25th October 2019.
Chapati Man NY, headed by Tejas Vemparala from The Chaat is Safe Inc., will be launching Chapati Man food carts across the Big Apple and the State of New York. Chapati Man fixed food-to-go sites in the heart of Manhattan will follow very soon.
With strong Indian elephant visual branding, the authentic Indian, curry based wrap fillings with salad and cooling yoghurt dressing, make a super-tasty, healthy and satisfying food-to-go choice. A dozen years of consistent UK success bodes well for a booming NYC opening.
Chris Rai, the owner and co-founder of Chapati Man, believes ‘‘this a huge statement for the Chapati Man brand and concept’, adding “seeing the roll-out of mobile units in New York is a massive achievement. I can’t wait to see our Indian elephant branding on the streets of the Big Apple. Here’s to Chapati Man launching a herd of Chapati Man elephants in other US states very soon!’’
Tejas Vemparala says…’’We are excited to introduce Chris and Andrea's story through Chapati Man to New York. Having been in this city for almost a decade, I know that the on-the-go pace in the city has created an excellent food cart culture year-round, and I am proud to be the steward for Chapati Man in New York City.
Our team in Chapati Man NY knows the importance of local and regional support on all sides of the river. While our first cart is in Manhattan, this undertaking would not be possible without everyone from our food supply chain in New Jersey to our wrapping designer in Queens. Our first presence in Midtown East will be the first of many locations across all boroughs in NYC.
I am incredibly excited - and a little nervous! - to be your host on Diwali weekend, Friday October 25th. Join us at our food cart in Midtown East and follow us on Twitter and Instagram @ChapatiManNY.’’
