Jackson Fire & Security opens new Guildford franchise

Published: 17 November 2017

Jackson Fire & Security - new Guildford franchisee

Fire safety company Jackson Fire & Security has opened its latest franchise in Guildford.

The new business, which will cover Surrey, is run by Luke Smith, who has spent over 20 years travelling the world working in the oil and gas industry, most recently as principal processing engineer for Petrofac in the UAE.

Given the volatility of the oil and gas markets, however, he was looking for a change of direction and returned to the UK.

Luke says: "I looked at various opportunities where I could start my own business, and Jackson Fire & Security stood out. It is an already well-established business with a great name in the industry, which provides a service which people need. It also gelled with my previous experience and allows me to utilise a lot of the engineering and health and safety knowledge I already had.

"The training and support I have received so far has been great. I knew the technical training would not be that challenging due to my prior knowledge and experience, but Jackson has taught me so much more in terms of running a business in areas such as finance, marketing and sales.

"I am currently in the process of recruiting a local field engineer, and once I have the right person in place I will be making contact with as many local businesses as possible to let them know about the services we provide. It’s my aim to recruit an additional engineer in the next 12 months as the business grows."

Steve Jackson, managing director of Jackson Fire & Security, adds: "We are delighted Luke has now opened his Jackson Fire & Security business in Guildford. He has a solid background in chemical engineering and fantastic technical skills that will be a huge asset to the company."
