Franchise Market to Rise

The value of the franchise market will rise by 1.4 per cent in 2010, according to the recent Key Note franchising market report. It predicts year-on-year growth increasing slowly thereafter, bringing the total industry turnover to around £11.69 billion in 2014.

The report also found that the percentage of franchise units forecast to grow is 1.3 per cent in 2010, and food retailing, catering, fitness and health, and personal services are all predicted growth areas.

The number of women and Asians buying franchises is also increasing, with nearly a fifth of new franchisees having Asian backgrounds.
