Interactive Music Club offers a blend of singing games and musical activities for primary children both in an out of school hours. Its aim is to develop children's musical skills and bring back the culture of singing games to the classroom, the playground and at home. The company has been running music clubs and workshops in West Sussex since 2000. The response was so positive that in 2007 the decision was made to franchise the business. There are currently nine franchisees in operation.
An Interactive Music Club franchise offers the opportunity to turn a passion for music into an exciting music teaching career. As well as the five initial training days, new franchisees will receive a series of DVDs and books containing over 200 filmed clips of children playing the singing games and demonstrating the activities. There are regular courses continually available and Interactive Music Club provides advice on approaching schools, repertoire and legalities in order to make the business a success.
An Interactive Music Club franchisee works in their own local area offering a variety of musical activities to primary aged children in a choice of the following formats:
• After-school music clubs
• Saturday/holiday music workshop days
• Parent and child music sessions
• Music workshops and teaching in schools
The Interactive Music Club franchise formula is flexible, so individuals can create the best working hours to suit their lifestyles.
Just two months after the training, franchisee Kym Dabinett-Jays says: "Learning the singing games and working with the children is really inspiring. I already run two clubs and teach music in a school thanks to the training and support I've received. It fits in really well with my family and lifestyle - a fantastic job for me. I would highly recommend it to anyone with a love of music and children."
Interactive Music Club is a part-time business opportunity, to stand alone or to run in addition to other elements of working life. It offers the opportunity to work flexible hours and earn substantial amounts in short periods of time. Earnings can be up to £75 for running an after school club, and up to £250 per workshop day. Some of the company's franchisees are already working in the music/entertainment industry and Interactive Music Club fits perfectly into their current lifestyle.
No specific qualifications are needed to run a franchise. However, a keen sense of musicality, the ability to sing clearly and in tune and the confidence to lead a group of children are required - as well as good communication and organisational skills.
The children have every opportunity to develop their musical skills and unlock their talents. They interact continuously with others and enjoy the culture of play away from the solitary world of computer games and televisions. Commenting on Interactive's offering, parent Amanda O'Hagan says: "It's great to see my children engaging in this way and coming out of every session in such a positive frame of mind. This to me is how childhood should be."
